Course description

In collaboration with Intrepid Leadership Group, LLC and the Harvard Negotiation Project, S.E.I. will host the Professional Development for Operators course designed to improve tactical decision making in both combat and garrison.

The course will cover proper use of “Commander’s Intent” at the team level to communicate tasks while enabling junior leaders and operators the flexibility to own solutions. A better understanding of ethical fitness through readings, lecture and practicals will improve the operator’s ethical decision making process. An in-depth study on the art of negotiation will arm operators with skills to resolve conflict while still removing obstacles to mission success, again, in combat and garrison.

Professional readings and discussions will also assist operators contend with the dilemmas they face today. Scenarios will be used throughout the course to facilitate team building and offering opportunities to employ what they’ve learned.

This candid and hard-hitting course will help operators see themselves more clearly and facilitate the professional growth required to prepare them for more senior leadership positions.
