Mountain Rescue Training - AFSPECWAR Aligned

Introduction
SEI’s Mountain Rescue Training Program is designed in compliance with AFMAN 10-3507 (9 May 23) to meet the qualification standards for AFSPECWAR Mountain Team Members and Leaders.
Mountain Team Member Track
Audience: Entry-level personnel
Goal: Qualification as a supervised Mountain Team Member (AFMAN 10-3507, §3.2)
Training Blocks:
- Knots, belay, rappel, ascent
- Anchor construction
- Search operations
- Mountain-specific medical care
- Evacuation procedures
Evaluation: Spot Evaluation per §3.2.2, documented on AF Form 803 or 1035
Mountain Leader Track
Audience: Current Mountain Operators
Goal: Qualification to lead mountain ops (AFMAN 10-3507, §3.4)
Training Blocks:
- Mission planning and team leadership
- Technical rescue from snow, ice, glacier
- Advanced route finding and hazard mitigation
Evaluation: Scenario-based Spot Evaluation per §3.4.2, documented on AF Form 1035
Cadre & Evaluators
All instructors are certified Mountain Leaders IAW AFMAN 10-3507 (9 May 23). Evaluations conducted by qualified evaluators using AF Form 1035/803.
Continuation Training
Requirements per Table 3.5 of AFMAN 10-3507
(9 May 23):
- Fundamental mountain skills – annually
- Evacuation, snow/ice operations – biennial

Registration
Register for upcoming training events.
SEI can provide instructors that are approved to sign off on the student’s upgrade if needed, with an additional instructor, or they can coordinate with the unit trainers to close the loop on the upgrade.
Equipment Standards
All Category I and II gear meets AFMAN 10-3507 (9 May 23), Chapter 4 standards. Equipment logs maintained IAW §4.3.
